Mum Jamie-Lee Bell said the baby was very much loved and that she alerted the doctor to purple spots on the baby’s back as soon as she arrived at the surgery.
“The doctor said that he thought it was a viral infection but he could not give antibiotics because it had only just started that day,” she said.
The mum discovered the baby’s illness when he refused to take his bottle and called BARDOC immediately where she saw a doctor at 7pm.
“There were little purple spots on the back of his neck. The doctor said he thought he had a viral infection. I took his word because he was a doctor. I told them of the symptoms and I told the doctor about the dark spots,” she said.
After returning home the baby’s condition deteriorated and Jamie-Lee called an ambulance. The baby later died in hospital.
When it comes to going to the doctor or the hospital we expect to be healed from any injuries that we might have. In most cases doctors do an exceptional job, but from time to time there are cases of medical negligence and given the environment, these can often be quite serious and result in numerous injuries which could even lead to death if they are left untreated.
If you have recently been in hospital or even to see the GP and you feel that they have not treated you properly, or that they have been negligent towards you, then you could be eligible to make a compensation claim to recoup any money that you have lost as a result.
