A woman from Littlehampton has filed a £300k personal injury claim after being knocked off her bike.
Mother of two Tara Butterfield was on her way to work when she was hit in the head and knocked off her bike by a passing car. Ms Butterfield suffered a fractured skull and a brain-haemorrhage as a result of the accident.
Ms Butterfield has been left permanently disabled as a result of her accident. She has been left deaf in one ear, has problems with concentration and balance, and has been forced to give up her job. She has also reported memory loss and problems controlling her temper since the accident.
However, operating staff at the hospital she attended reportedly commented that if she had been traveling one mile an hour fast she could potentially have died from her injuries.
Her personal injury compensation claim for the accident follows a legal hearing in which the driver of the car was convicted of careless driving and issued six points on his licence and a £200 penalty fine.
Speaking to her local newspaper, Ms Butterfield stated that she does not blame the driver of the car for the accident and commented that she was just in the wrong place at the wrong time.
However, she did state that she would still be making a claim to seek compensation for her injuries, as the accident has completely changed the way she has to live her life – to the extent that even simple routines such as taking her children to the park become an ordeal
