Experts say that England’s “failing” social care system is leaving around 800,000 at risk and they are calling on the Government and the opposition to fix the problem.
A group of more than 60 Government advisors said that “terrible examples of abuse and neglect” were currently being seen by our elderly population as the Government fails to meet the needs of an ageing population.
A letter published in the Telegraph highlighted stated that the Government is currently not responding well to an increased number of people who require care.
“This comes at a huge cost to the dignity and independence of older and disabled people, but also to our society, family life and economy,” it stated.
“An estimated 800,000 older people are being left without care – lonely, isolated and at risk.”
They also added that businesses were losing staff who in turn needed to care for their relatives, in addition to problems with rising social care bills which has left many people at risk of losing their homes.
The coalition have highlighted that the reform of social care is an “urgent issue” and have put additional money towards improving the current situation.
When it comes to looking after an ageing population it can be a difficult task, but if you have paid your taxes and National Insurance then you are entitled to a fair and adequate healthcare system throughout your life. If you feel that the NHS is being negligent towards you and you are left with either physical or emotional illness as a result then you could be eligible to make a claim.
In addition, if you receive mistreatment at the hands of an independent care home or care facility then you could be eligible to make a compensation claim against anyone who you feel has mis-treated you throughout the course of your treatment. When it comes to dealing with care homes you are paying for a service and if you feel that they have let you down, or treated you poorly, then you could be eligible to make a claim.
I had never been involved in an accident before so wasn't too sure what the process entailed. After speaking with Legal Request they made everything clear for me.
