A restaurant mistakenly served two toddlers industrial cleaning fluid instead of water, leaving them both in a serious condition in hospital.
The parents had requested water for their toddlers but were horrified to find that their beakers had instead been filled with a bleach, commonly used to clean pipes.
An unmarked jug which was used to fill the children’s cups is believed to be responsible for the mix up.

The children’s parents have described the incident as horrifying.
“Daniel began to cough… At the same time Stuart and myself took the lids off the children’s cups. I put it to my mouth and it immediately smelt like bleach,” the toddler’s mother said.
“The barmaid came and said: “I’m really sorry, we’ve used the pipe fluid.
“I didn’t believe her at first. The manager called the ambulance and gave us a bottle of the cleaner to show us and to show the doctors.
“The fluid in the pipes had been diluted. The doctors told us that if it was neat, it would be strong enough to dissolve tissue in the body.”
The restaurant chain has taken the incident seriously and since re-trained all of its staff.
“The safety and well-being of our customers is our primary concern. Following the incident in May, all of our staff steam have been retrained on cleaning practices,” a spokeswoman said.
“We are satisfied we have a highly experienced manager in place to ensure the safe, responsible operation of the business for all of our customers to enjoy.”
