According to her lawyer Lou Pendas, the injuries have certainly left the child with limitations on what she can do.
“You try to grab that hand and she pulls it away. She doesn’t like her nails trimmed,” he said.
He also adds that the experience was quite traumatising.
“Blood started to squirt everywhere, including on mom’s face,” he said.
Her mum agrees “And she (Selena) cries at night. I think she remembers what happened and cries at night sometimes,” she said.
Pendas said the hospital is yet to take responsibility for their actions and this had led to the family having to launch a lawsuit.
Both sides agree that they are yet to reach agreement on a compensation claim.
Losing a limb can be an incredibly harrowing experience, even if you just lose a part of one and when you are dealing with a limb as important as your finger then it can make it incredibly difficult to complete a number of common tasks. Your fingers are responsible for a great deal of tasks and if you are unable to use them effectively you could find it very difficult to work, drive or type.
In most situations a partial loss of limb is caused by an accident or by medical negligence, if you have been caught up in either of these situations then you could be eligible to claim against the person who has been negligent towards you.
