The blast which occurred in the home of pensioner Marie Burns emanated from her cooker and left the 74 year old with life threatening injuries.
Local residents can recall the incident which left many of them with emotional scars. Leon Barker remembers how he had to drag his three young sons from the rubble.
“It was amazing that none of them even needed to stay in hospital overnight. I still think about what happened – I have nightmares and I’ve been seeing a therapist because I feel like I didn’t do enough,” he said.
The Health and Safety Executive have an ongoing investigation into the situation but local residents believe they are no closer to discovering what was behind the investigation.
There was substantial damage to the houses amounting to a bill around £2 million and the houses are now in the process of being rebuilt.
