Just weeks after having an operation to remove a gastric band, a 33 year old woman has died.
The band, which helped the woman to shed seven stone, was fitted five years older after the woman was diagnosed as morbidly obese.
After the band became infected doctors were forced to remove it.
The woman died from a huge blood clot in her lung a few weeks after the device had been removed.

Warrington Coroner’s Court is currently following an investigation into her death which has uncovered that the woman also suffered from a blood clot in her spleen.
The inquest also heard that her sister believed she may have been given the wrong blood thinning medication after the operation in December last year.
“After the operation to remove the band, she was concerned that she wasn’t receiving the correct anti-coagulant treatment. She had had blood clots before and knew the symptoms,” she said.
“She said she thought she had one in her leg and was literally sitting on the sofa not moving because she was so afraid it would move around her body and kill her.”
The woman died just 11 days after being re-admitted to hospital.
